My mom’s name is Jane. My dad’s name is Dick. So yes, I was literally raised by Dick and Jane, the names of the two beloved characters of children’s books known the world over.

But was mine a storybook childhood? Hardly. No, I wasn’t chased with scissors or threatened with wire hangers, but Dick and Jane weren’t exactly Ozzie and Harriet either.

When I became a mother, I wanted to be the best mom I could – I tried to throw myself into the experience as wholeheartedly as possible. Of course, motherhood was so much more difficult than I had ever imagined.

So as the years went on, I started writing about my experiences and have now created this website to share personal musings on all aspects of motherhood. Motherhood can be exhausting and downright overwhelming at times, but it is also the most important and fulfilling calling we answer. The posts on this website aim to entertain the reader in a fun, positive way and really, can’t we all use a little “feel good” in our lives?

Additionally, you will find a “D&J Moments” tab which contains some “Dick and Jane Moments”, which are flashbacks, if you will, of memories from my childhood or my own questionable or quirky parenting moments. I invite readers to include their own “Dick and Jane Moments” either from their own childhoods or their parenting experiences. You can include them in your comments.
