So I had to break my ankle right before the holidays! And it had to be my right ankle so I can’t drive!
It’s not like I’m busy or anything!!
“Just shop on online” everyone says. But that assumes I’m an organized person who knew the items I wanted to buy for everyone on my list a couple of weeks ago. But, I tend to be … ahem … a “hit the stores at the last minute” kind of gal. I’m usually rushing in, stressed, trying to look around to get last-minute ideas.
So here I am, the day before Christmas Eve, needing to buy last-minute gifts while hobbling around in a boot and crutches. I will do my best and try to keep the spirit of the season in mind. I will listen to holiday music, look at the lights and decorations and try to remember that the holidays are about spending time with those you love (or just have to see once a year), and not about all the loot you purchase for others.
So how did I do it, you ask? Was it skiing, hiking, skydiving, water rafting? No … I’ve done all these things and haven’t been worse for the wear. No – what got me was our garage steps! I was hurrying because I was about to prepare dinner and I went into the garage to get more paper towels. In the process, I missed a step and fell onto the garage floor. My body didn’t even try to catch itself – I just ended up on the garage floor right away! (I’m going to have to make up a better story.)
Anyway, off to the stores I go. Happy Holidays everyone! May you have happy, peaceful times with family and friends. And please … watch all those steps!
